"Equipment is always broken"
This gym has been disappointing. So many of the machines feel old, wobbly, or are just straight-up out of order, and some of the equipment looks like it’s been waiting to be fixed forever. The dumbbells are always scattered everywhere too, which gets annoying fast. I’ve tried emailing about it, but the replies feel like they’re coming from robots instead of actual people who care. For what they charge, it really doesn’t feel worth it.

"Opening hours make it harder than it should be"
I tried to get something sorted with 1Life after work, but by the time I actually had a chance to contact them, they were already closed. Annoying when it’s just a simple question and you can’t get hold of anyone.
The opening hours on the website really don’t work well if you’ve got a normal 9-to-5 job. It feels like you have to rearrange your day around them, which is a bit much. Also, because I couldn’t get a straight answer, it left me wondering if there were any extra fees or small-print charges I was missing.

Maybe it’s fine for people with more flexible schedules, but for me it was a hassle and just made the whole thing feel more frustrating than it needed to be. Not a great experience overall.

"The staff I spoke to were friendly and..."
The staff I spoke to were friendly and seemed like they were trying to help, so I’ll give them credit for that. But it took longer than it should have to get things sorted, that kind of made me lose trust in the whole experience. It wasn’t terrible, but I’m left feeling like I can’t fully count on them next time.

"Canceling took forever"
Canceling was such a hassle. It should’ve been quick, but it just dragged on. Too many steps. Too much waiting. Not a great experience.

"The centre really needs better upkeep"
The centre feels badly kept lately. There are repairs that seem to be left for way too long, and some areas just look tired and neglected. It’s frustrating when you’re paying to use the place and basic maintenance still feels like a struggle. Like, why is it so complicated to keep things in decent condition?

"I tried booking a swim session on..."
I tried booking a swim session on 1life.co.uk it was way more frustrating than it needed to be. The whole point of booking online is supposed to be convenience, but it felt like the website was working against me the entire time.
The pages were loading really slowly, then it randomly made me log in again for no clear reason. On top of that, the available times weren’t easy to understand, and a couple of slots looked free but then wouldn’t actually let me book them. It also feels like one of those annoying policy loopholes where they say sessions are “available,” but the system somehow blocks you when you try to grab one.

In the end, I gave up and called instead, which completely defeats the purpose of having an online booking system. If there are rules around who can book what or when, they need to be clearer instead of hiding behind a clunky website.

"Decent membership, but not a steal"
It’s an okay value overall, but I wouldn’t say it feels like a great deal. Some of the classes are good and the class times work well for me, but the facilities don’t really match the price. A few of the extra perks feel kind of unnecessary too, especially when the basics could be better

"My child has been going to swimming..."
My child has been going to swimming lessons with 1Life for a few months now. Some of the teachers have been lovely, really patient, and he’s definitely more confident in the water than he was at the start.

That said, the lessons can be a bit hit and miss. The groups sometimes feel too crowded, so the kids end up standing around waiting for their turn, and we’ve had a couple of teacher changes with barely any notice. I’ve mentioned things before but it doesn’t really feel like anyone takes it on board, which is frustrating. It’s not awful, I just wish it felt a bit more organised and consistent

"It’s always packed at the same times"
I’ve tried going a few different days and times, and the pattern is obvious: it’s almost always way too crowded. Every time I think I’ve found a quieter window, there are still people packed in and I can’t really use the equipment I came for. It gets frustrating when the whole visit turns into waiting around instead of actually working out.

"Good gym, but booking classes can be tricky!"
I really like the gym overall, it’s a solid place to work out. The only downside is that the classes fill up really fast sometimes, so you have to be quick if you want a spot!

"I tried getting in touch with 1Life..."
I tried getting in touch with 1Life about a problem with my membership, and it was such a hassle. I’ve been charged, but I still haven’t had any proper update or clear answer about what’s going on. It took ages for anyone to reply, and when they finally did, it felt like they hadn’t really read what I’d sent. I ended up explaining the same thing more than once and still didn’t get it sorted. Frustrating when you’re paying for a service and can’t get basic help.

"Still waiting on my refund"
I got charged again and my refund still hasn’t been sorted out. I’ve tried to be patient, but this is getting really frustrating. If this doesn’t get fixed soon, I’m probably going to take my business elsewhere.
